The overgrown shrubs and trees became one of the first projects we took on because close to one-third of the yard, in both front and back of the house, were in bad shape.
The very first thing we did before cutting anything, was have the lot surveyed. There were several thoughts from our new neighbors on where the property lines were. We decided to take no chances and brought in surveyor and once the lines were established and staked, we spoke to our neighbor who would be most affected by the removal of our trees and explained to them what the plan was.
Can you see the buildings through the trees in the picture above?
Most of the trees that needed to be removed were on our property. But two were on theirs, so we suggested to split the cost of those two trees with them if they agreed, and we would have them all removed at the same time.
Cleaning all the lower branches and limbs made a huge difference but the bases of the trees were so rotted, that we knew we had to take them all down to the ground.
After removing all the tress, we planted grass and planned the next phase of the back yard – A parking area.
